Stu­dent/Research Assist­ant (m/w/d)


Work­ing field:

The pos­i­tion entails the fol­low­ing duties:
  • assist­ing with edit­or­ial work on sci­entific texts
  • lit­er­at­ure research
  • main­ten­ance of data­bases and digital repos­it­or­ies
  • image edit­ing,
  • lay­out­ing,
  • text con­ver­sion.


Applic­ants must be in at least their third semester of study at a uni­versity in Ber­lin or Branden­burg. We encour­age applic­a­tions from stu­dents with an inter­dis­cip­lin­ary out­look, who have an interest in learn­ing more about his­tory of sci­ence, sci­entific pub­lish­ing, and Digital Human­it­ies. Stu­dents of a DH or a com­puter sci­ence degree pro­gram and human­it­ies stu­dents inter­ested in tech­no­logy are also wel­come. They should have the abil­ity to work both inde­pend­ently and in a team. Reli­ab­il­ity is a pre­requis­ite. Pro­gram­ming exper­i­ence would be very wel­come but is not oblig­at­ory. Nat­ive Eng­lish speak­ers with a good com­mand of Ger­man are espe­cially encour­aged to apply.

What we of­fer:

The salary is paid accord­ing to the rates for stu­dent employ­ment in the frame of the Max Planck Soci­ety’s pro­gram to sup­port junior sci­ent­ists (12,00 € Bach­elor stu­dents, 13,95 € Mas­ter stu­dents).
The pos­i­tion (up to 40 hours per month) is ini­tially lim­ited until March 31, 2022 (with the pro­spect of exten­sion).
