Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Cen­ter for Mole­cu­lar and Cel­lu­lar Bio­en­gi­nee­ring (CMCB), Bio­tech­no­logy Cen­ter (BIO­TEC)

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

The posi­tion is offe­red in the Rese­arch Group “Gene­tic Engi­nee­ring of Stem Cells” of Prof. Dr. Kon­stan­ti­nos Ana­st­as­sia­dis, star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­tion is limi­ted until May 31, 2023, with the option for exten­sion sub­ject to resour­ces being avail­able. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ge­setz – WissZeitVG). The posi­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion.

Work­ing field:

The pro­ject aims to elu­ci­date the role of histone methyl­trans­fe­ra­ses MLL3-MLL4 and histone deme­thyla­ses UTX/UTY in mouse hema­to­po­ie­sis using con­di­tio­nal muta­ge­ne­sis. An addi­tio­nal aim is to unra­vel the epi­ge­ne­tic func­tions of the MLL3-MLL4-UTX methyl­trans­fe­rase/deme­thylase com­plex mem­bers in mouse embryo­nic stem cells and during dif­fe­ren­tia­tion to neural and mes­o­der­mal deri­va­ti­ves.

Require­ments:

The can­di­date should have a Uni­ver­sity and PhD degree, pre­fer­a­bly in the sub­ject Bio­tech­no­logy with the focus on Geno­mics. We are loo­king for a moti­va­ted sci­en­tist with expe­ri­ence in cell cul­ture, mole­cu­lar bio­logy and bio­che­mi­stry. Exper­tise in mouse embryo­nic deve­lop­ment and epi­ge­ne­tics is advan­ta­ge­ous.
