Yildirim Lab has extensive experience in characterizing epigenetic and transcriptional dysregulation in CNS diseases such as Huntington’s Disease and stroke. More information about our scientific field of work can be found on our webpage at

The Postdoc position we offer is part of a project in which we aim to investigate the role of epigenetic mechanisms, especially DNA methylation, and the gene expression programs that are involved in alcohol addiction. The project involves performing genome-wide DNA methylation assays such as reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS) and methylated DNA immunoprecipitation followed by sequencing (MeDIP-Seq). Utilizing these technologies, we have previously reported large changes in DNA methylation in models of Huntington’s disease (Ng, C.W., Yildirim F. et al., PNAS, 2013). In the current project, these techniques will be applied to the brain samples, which are readily available from a rat model of alcohol addiction (Hadar, R., et al., Behav Brain Res, 2017).
