We are inviting applications from outstanding postdoctoral researchers as part of the newly established Computational Medicine group at the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité University Medicine (
https://www.bihealth.org).
The aim of this role is to characterise the genetic architecture of diverse aspects of human metabolism using large-scale population-based and patient data and to translate these discoveries into strategies to improve health. We use cutting-edge methods to integrate large scale genomic, metabolomic, and proteomic data to identify shared genetic regulation with common, complex diseases with the aim to discover new drug targets, indications and disease mechanisms. We are ambitious, curious and enthusiastic about promoting scientific excellence and career development in the context of happy family demands.
The successful candidate will lead high profile scientific publications, represent the team in national and international collaborations and meetings, and contribute to the supervision of junior researchers.

If you are fluent in written and spoken English, have strong collaboration and communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team to tight timelines, then apply to become part of our growing team.
Essential requirements: PhD in statistical genomics, genetic epidemiology, bioinformatics or a closely related discipline, with a proven ability to write and publish academic articles. The role requires experience in analysing genome sequence data, excellent programming skills for efficient statistical genetic and computational analyses of large-scale datasets (Python, R or similar), familiarity with statistical and mathematical model-building techniques, and an aptitude for biological inference and clinical translation.
Desirable, useful skills and experience include all of the following: whole genome and/ or exome sequencing, complex and rare disease genetics, bioinformatics pipeline development, metabolomic and proteomic data and technologies, genome-wide association studies, fine-mapping, high-throughput expression data, PheWAS, Mendelian randomisation, polygenic risk scores, functional genomics, network analysis, and machine learning approaches.
