Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Faculty of Psy­cho­logy, Col­la­bo­ra­tive Rese­arch Centre CRC 940 Voli­tion and Cogni­tive Con­trol

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate

(Sub­ject to per­so­nal qua­li­fi­ca­tion employees are remu­ne­ra­ted accord­ing to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The posi­tion is star­ting at the next pos­si­ble date for two years. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz-WissZeitVG). The posi­tion ent­ails 65 % of the full­time wee­kly hours and aims at obtai­ning fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion. An exten­sion of the period of employ­ment is pos­si­ble.
The CRC aims at inves­ti­ga­ting cogni­tive mecha­nisms and neural sys­tems that under­lie the abi­lity to exert voli­tio­nal con­trol over one’s actions and how these con­trol pro­ces­ses are impai­red in men­tal dis­or­ders. The goal of the Pro­ject (C6) is to examine cogni­tive con­trol as trans­dia­gnostic con­struct for impul­sive and com­pul­sive dis­or­ders (https://tu-dresden.de/bereichsuebergreifendes/sfb940/research/c-dysfunktionen/c6).

Work­ing field:

The can­di­date will work in the Pro­ject ‘Cogni­tive con­trol as trans­dia­gnostic con­struct for impul­sive and com­pul­sive dis­or­ders and its rela­tion to self-con­trol’ and will be respon­si­ble for par­ti­ci­pant recruit­ment, data acqui­si­tion, and data ana­ly­sis. The pro­ject will examine indi­vi­du­als with alco­hol use dis­or­der and obses­sive-com­pul­sive dis­or­der and collect beha­vio­ral and EEG data. The can­di­date will work with Prof. Dr. Tanja End­rass and Dr. Raoul Die­te­rich and will clo­sely col­la­bo­rate with other pro­jects of the CRC.

Require­ments:

uni­ver­sity degree (diploma or mas­ter) in psy­cho­logy, cli­ni­cal psy­cho­logy or cogni­tive neu­ro­sci­ence; a strong inte­rest in cogni­tive and/or cli­ni­cal neu­ro­sci­ence; back­ground or inte­rest in elec­tro­phy­sio­lo­gi­cal methods; flu­ent Eng­lish and Ger­man.

What we of­fer:

The CRC and TU Dres­den pro­vide an excel­lent sci­en­ti­fic envi­ron­ment. The Chair of Addic­tion Rese­arch has access to the Neu­ro­ima­ging Centre (equip­ped with fMRI, EEG, TMS, eye tracking faci­li­ties) and to the TU Dres­den high-per­for­mance com­pu­ting clus­ters.
