Job descrip­tion:
An exci­ting post­doc­to­ral posi­tion is avail­able to study the role of the immune sys­tem and neu­ro­ge­ne­sis in neu­ro­lo­gi­cal disea­ses with a spe­cial empha­sis on epi­le­psy in the newly estab­lished lab of Prof. Dr. Sonja Bröer (view key publi­ca­ti­ons here).

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date will use a com­bi­na­tion of in vivo and in vitro tech­ni­ques to study disease pro­gres­sion and deve­lop tre­at­ments based on the fin­dings. The ideal can­di­date should be a dyna­mic, highly moti­va­ted indi­vi­dual, who is able to per­form inde­pen­dent rese­arch using the below men­tio­ned tech­ni­ques and models. The can­di­date will be invol­ved in tea­ching of stu­dents in Phar­ma­co­logy/Toxi­co­logy and legis­la­tion of phar­maceu­ti­cals and con­trol­led sub­s­tan­ces and is encou­ra­ged to par­ti­ci­pate in aca­de­mic admi­nis­tra­tion. The activity ser­ves the own sci­en­ti­fic qua­li­fi­ca­tion.



Doc­to­ral degree; Appro­ba­tion in Vete­ri­nary Medi­cine or gra­duate (Diplom/Mas­ter) of Natu­ral/Life Sci­en­ces.


Expe­ri­ence with rodent disease models, ste­reot­ac­tic sur­gery, beha­vior tes­ting para­digms, EEG acqui­si­tion and ana­ly­ses and/or FACS-sor­ting, immuno­histo­che­mi­stry and (stem) cell cul­ture is desi­red. Spe­ci­fic expe­ri­ence in vete­ri­nary phar­ma­co­logy, ani­mal wel­fare and labo­ra­tory ani­mal sci­ence are a plus. The can­di­date should have an out­stan­ding aca­de­mic record. Good working know­ledge of Eng­lish lan­guage is requi­red, Ger­man is a plus.
