Tech­ni­sche Infor­ma­ti­ons­bi­blio­thek (TIB) - pro­gram area B, usage and inform­a­tion ser­vices

TIB, being part of the Leib­niz Rese­arch Asso­ci­ation, is with around 550 employ­ees one of the lar­gest tech­nical inform­a­tion cen­tres in Ger­many, hav­ing three main func­tions:
1. Act­ing in the capa­city of the Leib­niz Inform­a­tion Centre for Sci­ence and Tech­no­logy, our for­ward-look­ing ser­vices secure the infra­struc­tural require­ments for pro­vid­ing rese­arch­ers in sci­ence and indus­try with high-qual­ity inform­a­tion and lit­er­at­ure.
2. Car­ry­ing out cut­ting edge rese­arch to fur­ther expand TIB’s role as a Ger­man inform­a­tion centre for the digit­isa­tion of sci­ence and tech­no­logy.
3. Offer lib­rary ser­vices for the Leib­niz Uni­ver­sity Han­nover.

Open Access pub­lic­a­tion plat­form man­ager, cre­ation and fur­ther devel­op­ment of the ser­vice (m/f/d)

Work­ing field:

TIB is build­ing a new pub­lic­a­tion plat­form for con­fer­ence pub­lic­a­tions and journ­als based on open source tech­no­lo­gies. The plat­form is geared to mod­ern user expect­a­tions and cur­rent tech­nical pos­sib­il­it­ies. It will ful­fil essen­tial require­ments for Open Access pub­lic­a­tions for con­fer­ence pub­lic­a­tions. The plat­form will be tested in a per­man­ent qual­ity and fur­ther devel­op­ment pro­cess, adap­ted to chan­ging require­ments and optim­ised for the import­ant func­tion in the sci­entific pub­lic­a­tion pro­cess.

Require­ments:

Your tasks
  • edit­or­ial devel­op­ment and imple­ment­a­tion of the plat­form includ­ing con­tinu­ous eval­u­ation and adapt­a­tion
  • acquis­i­tion of users of the ser­vice in sci­entific com­munit­ies
  • eval­u­ation of field ana­lyses and user feed­back, organ­isa­tion of user tests
  • devel­op­ment and doc­u­ment­a­tion of user-friendly work­flows
  • present­a­tion of the ser­vice in an aca­demic and lib­rary envir­on­ment

Your qual­it­ies
  • uni­versity degree (Mas­ter or com­par­able), prefer­ably in math­em­at­ics, nat­ural sci­ences or engin­eer­ing or a related field
  • good know­ledge of sci­entific pub­lish­ing and the Open Access land­scape
  • exper­i­ence with the pro­duc­tion or pub­lic­a­tion of con­fer­ence or journal pub­lic­a­tions
  • very good know­ledge of Eng­lish
  • com­mu­nic­a­tion and cooper­a­tion skills

Desir­able
  • know­ledge of Open Journal Sys­tems or Open Mono­graph Press
  • exper­i­ence with pro­ject col­lab­or­a­tion, also in national and inter­na­tional cooper­a­tions
  • will­ing­ness to develop and imple­ment your own con­cepts and ideas

to work in the field of pub­lic­a­tion ser­vices at March 2020.

The pos­i­tion is per­man­ent and the reg­u­lar weekly work­ing time is 39.8 hours (full-time). The pos­i­tion is gen­er­ally suit­able for part-time work. The remu­ner­a­tion is based on pay scale group 13 TV-L.
