Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Faculty of Bio­logy, Insti­tute of Zoo­logy

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Work­ing field:

The future hol­der of this posi­tion should repre­sent the full range of the field in rese­arch as well as in teaching in Bache­lor and Mas­ter pro­grams at the Faculty of Bio­logy. It is expec­ted that the can­di­date is wil­ling to teach in Eng­lish and Ger­man and cont­ri­bu­tes to the aca­de­mic sel­fad­mi­nis­tra­tion. Active par­ti­ci­pa­tion in trans­di­sci­pli­nary pro­jects and close coope­ra­tion with non-uni­ver­sity rese­arch insti­tu­ti­ons wit­hin the Dres­den con­cept is highly appre­cia­ted.

Require­ments:

The app­li­cant is expec­ted to be an inter­na­tio­nally dis­tin­gu­is­hed per­son with a high future poten­tial, a rese­arch pro­file in the field of Zoo­logy, par­ti­cu­larly phy­sio­logy, an excel­lent publi­ca­tion track record, didac­tical skills and a pro­ven ability to acquire signi­fi­cant third-party fun­ding. App­li­cants must ful­fil the employ­ment qua­li­fi­ca­tion requi­re­ments of § 58 of the Act on the Auto­nomy of Insti­tu­ti­ons of Hig­her Edu­ca­tion in the Free State of Sax­ony (Hig­her Edu­ca­tion Act of the Free State of Sax­ony – SächsHSFG). Requi­re­ments for an appoint­ment are a com­ple­ted uni­ver­sity degree, pedago­gi­cal sui­ta­bi­lity, a par­ti­cu­lar apti­tude for aca­de­mic work, gene­rally accoun­ted for by the qua­lity of a doc­to­rate/PhD as well as fur­ther out­stan­ding aca­de­mic achie­ve­ments. These are, for example, a habi­li­ta­tion, a posi­tion as junior pro­fes­sor or equi­va­lent achie­ve­ments.
