for the chair of "The­or­et­ical Phys­ics with a focus on Non-Equi­lib­rium Dynam­ics of Cor­rel­ated Quantum Mat­ter".

Work­ing field:

Applic­ants are expec­ted to teach the field of The­or­et­ical Phys­ics in the entire breadth and depth. In research they should rep­res­ent “The­or­et­ical Phys­ics with a focus on Non-Equi­lib­rium Dynam­ics of Cor­rel­ated Quantum Mat­ter“.


Can­did­ates must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance with § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act) [inform­a­tion sheet avail­able by request], includ­ing a com­pleted aca­demic edu­ca­tion, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (doc­tor­ate and addi­tional aca­demic achieve­ments) and ped­ago­gical-didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, demon­strated by teach­ing exper­i­ence and visu­al­ized in a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for fur­ther inform­a­tion see TUB Web­site, quick access 144242).
We are look­ing for an out­stand­ing and inter­na­tional lead­ing sci­ent­ist to strengthen and to fur­ther develop the pro­file of the Insti­tutes of Phys­ics in the field of The­or­et­ical Phys­ics. The focus of research is expec­ted to be in the field of meso­scopic, cor­rel­ated quantum sys­tems in the field of con­densed mat­ter phys­ics with rel­ev­ance for trans­port and optics. Examples include the manip­u­la­tion of col­lect­ive quantum states and quantum gases, the non-equili-brium dynam­ics of elec­tronic/photonic cor­rel­a­tions, non-thermal phase trans­itions, strong-field phe­nom­ena and topo­lo­gical aspects of light-mat­ter inter­ac­tion. In par­tic­u­lar, we expect meth­od­o­lo­gical con­tri­bu­tions to optim­ized numer­ical tech­niques in open many-body quantum sys­tems.
The Insti­tute of The­or­et­ical Phys­ics already hosts inter­na­tion­ally recog­nized research top­ics in the fields of soft mat­ter, bio­lo­gical phys­ics, non­lin­ear dynam­ics and optics. The research of the suc­cess­ful can­did­ate is expec­ted to com­ple­ment the already estab­lished top­ics and ana­lyt­ical/numer­ical meth­ods. Also, wide exper­i­ence in third-party fund­ing and con­trib­ut­ing to joint research activ­it­ies of the Phys­ical Insti­tutes is anti­cip­ated. The will­ing­ness to learn Ger­man is expec­ted from Non-Ger­man speak­ing applic­ants.
