Uni­ver­sity Pro­fes­sor - salary grade W3

in the field of "Intel­li­gent Sys­tems".

The pro­fess­or­ship is an innov­a­tion pro­fess­or­ship, an instru­ment of stra­tegic plan­ning in higher edu­ca­tion jointly developed by the exec­ut­ive board and the uni­versity's fac­ulties, in order to be able to quickly and flex­ibly develop and enhance prom­ising areas.

Work­ing field:

Teach­ing and research per­tain­ing to the found­a­tions, meth­ods, and applic­a­tions of intel­li­gent sys­tems. Course offer­ings should be embed­ded in the Bach­elor and Mas­ter’s pro­gram on com­puter sci­ence; they should also estab­lish con­nec­tions to related areas, includ­ing arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence, machine learn­ing, robot­ics, and com­puter vis­ion. Course offer­ings tar­get­ing stu­dents of bio­lo­gical intel­li­gence (e.g. psy­cho­logy, neur­os­cience, beha­vi­oral bio­logy) is desir­able. The fun­da­mental and inter­dis­cip­lin­ary research con­duc­ted by the can­did­ate in the area of intel­li­gent sys­tems should be con­du­cive to col­lab­or­a­tions with related research areas, such as arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence, machine learn­ing, robot­ics, com­puter vis­ion, con­trol).
In case of a pos­it­ive decision about the cluster of excel­lence "Sci­ence of Intel­li­gence", which was jointly applied for by TU Ber­lin and HU Ber­lin, the can­did­ate is expec­ted to con­trib­ute to the joint pro­ject.


Suc­cess­ful applic­ants must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance ith § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act), includ­ing a com­pleted aca­demic edu­ca­tion, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (PhD), post-doc­toral lec­ture qual­i­fic­a­tion (Habil­it­a­tion) or equi­val­ent sci­entific qual­i­fic­a­tion (sci­entific papers) as well as ped­ago­gical didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for more inform­a­tion see TUB web­site, quick access no. 144242).
Applic­ants should have very good research and teach­ing exper­i­ence prefer­ably in the area of found­a­tions, meth­ods, and applic­a­tions of intel­li­gent sys­tems, usu­ally demon­strated by inter­na­tional pub­lic­a­tions, suc­cess­ful third party fund­ing and a rel­ev­ant teach­ing port­fo­lio. Espe­cially exper­i­ences from inter­dis­cip­lin­ary col­lab­or­a­tions in this area are desir­able. The will­ing­ness to offer Eng­lish-lan­guage teach­ing is also a pre­requis­ite. The will­ing­ness to learn Ger­man is expec­ted from Non-Ger­man speak­ing applic­ants.
