Post-Doc­toral Researcher for the Com­pet­ence Cen­ter Self-Adapt­ive Sys­tems

Work­ing field:

The DAI-Labor at the Tech­nis­che Uni­versität Ber­lin is look­ing for a postdoc sci­ent­ist for coordin­a­tion and man­age­ment tasks.
The DAI-Labor and the Agent Tech­no­lo­gies chair of the Tech­nis­che Uni­versität Ber­lin under the lead­er­ship of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Sahin Albayrak are involved in research and devel­op­ment in the area of smart sys­tems and smart ser­vices since 1992. More than 100 employ­ees make the DAI-Labor one of the largest research insti­tutes in the area of smart sys­tems. In cooper­a­tion with part­ners from aca­demia and industry, national and inter­na­tional pro­jects push the cur­rent state of the art in the areas of agent tech­no­lo­gies, next gen­er­a­tion ser­vices and net­works, machine learn­ing and secur­ity. Fur­ther top­ics include inform­a­tion fil­ter­ing, per­son­al­isa­tion, and mobil­ity.

The advert­ised pos­i­tion is loc­ated within the com­pet­ence cen­ter Self-Adapt­ive Sys­tems (CC SAS), which deals with the use of meth­ods of dis­trib­uted arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence for the devel­op­ment of self-adapt­ive soft­ware sys­tems. In cur­rent restruc­tur­ing efforts the CC SAS will be cre­ated based on the cur­rent CC NGS. For this CC we are look­ing for a per­son with lead­er­ship skills for the coordin­a­tion of the man­age­ment tasks and the pro­ject acquis­i­tion. Spe­cific­ally, it is inten­ded to expand the research in the dir­ec­tion of soft­ware sus­tain­ab­il­ity.

The tasks include the coordin­a­tion of the sci­entific and con­tent work of the CC Self-Adapt­ive Sys­tems. This includes the acquis­i­tion and coordin­a­tion of research pro­jects, as well as the organ­iz­a­tional coordin­a­tion of the CCs. This spe­cific­ally includes tasks in the fol­low­ing areas:
  • Coordin­a­tion of employ­ees and pro­ject rela­tion­ships within the com­pet­ence cen­ter
  • Acquis­i­tion and man­age­ment of third-party fun­ded pro­jects
  • Inde­pend­ent research within the top­ics described above
  • Expand research towards soft­ware sus­tain­ab­il­ity
  • Devel­op­ment and imple­ment­a­tion of applic­a­tions in the field of sus­tain­ab­il­ity and agent tech­no­logy
  • Act­ive par­ti­cip­a­tion in research and teach­ing activ­it­ies
  • Super­vi­sion of thesis (Bach­elor, Mas­ter, PhD)


  • PhD in com­puter sci­ence or com­par­able qual­i­fic­a­tion
  • Excel­lent achieve­ments in research in the fields of arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence and self-adapt­a­tion indic­ated by pub­lic­a­tions.
  • Exper­i­ence in the field of soft­ware sus­tain­ab­il­ity
  • Exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion and man­age­ment of research pro­jects, as well as in the super­vi­sion of PhD thesis
  • We expect motiv­a­tion, cre­ativ­ity, flex­ib­il­ity and, in par­tic­u­lar, team­work and the desire to do research
