LANDT is a group of aligned companies with a total of 60 staff members and core-consultants in Germany, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan focused on SME finance and specifically on credit guarantee facilities operating in challenging environments. Credit guarantee facilities are market-friendly interventions to share the risk of SME lending of Financial Institutions and thereby facilitate access to finance for SMEs. The core company of LANDT is Leidner & Thiesen GmbH, a Berlin based financial services consulting and asset management company established in 2013 which provides a wide range of services related to SME finance and credit guarantee facilities. LANDT manages two credit guarantee funds, located in Afghanistan (ACGF – Afghan Credit Guarantee Foundation) and Tajikistan (CGFT – Credit Guarantee Fund Tajikistan GmbH) and is planning a dynamic business expansion to other target regions and countries. Currently, the credit guarantee funds are supported in part by various partners such as the World Bank, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Development Bank of Austria (OeEB), the German Investment and Development Corporation (DEG) and the Development Bank of The Netherlands (FMO).
RESEARCH ASSISTANT INTERN (M/F)
STARTING: JANUARY 2018

FULL TIME FOR 3-6 MONTHS
We are looking for an intern who currently has student status and must complete an internship as part of a requirement for his or her studies. The selected candidate will conduct a regional and/or country specific mapping of respective financial markets, and examine existing credit guarantee schemes. These results including gap-analysis will be used in creating business development strategies for LANDT and its future business operations.
Masters student with strong academic background in one of the following areas: Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Business Administration or related discipline
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required. Proficiency in French is preferred. Russian, Arabic or Persian (Farsi) language skills are appreciated.
Strong analytical and research skills
Interest in development economics and related policy
Advanced proficiency in using MS Office package (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks independently, under time pressure
