The art of measurement — made in Germany. Striving to perfect it is the mission of the 2100 employees of PTB, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt. As Germany’s national metrology institute, we operate in an international environment to develop world-class measurement standards. We at PTB work to ensure that people and organizations can trust the measurements they use.

At our Berlin-Charlottenburg site, we are looking to fill the following position at Department 8.4 (Mathematical Modelling and Data Analysis): Student assistant for the development of statistical methods for inverse problems and deep learning (Ref. No. 23-28-8)

Student assistant for the development of statistical methods for inverse problems and deep learning (Ref. No. 23-28-8)

Working field:

While working here, you will support Working Group 8.42 (Data Analysis and Measurement Uncertainty) in the development of mathematical and statistical methods for solving high-dimensional inverse problems using deep learning. Our research in this field focuses on methods for approximating the posterior distribution that occurs in Bayesian inverse problems in magnetic resonance imaging. Machine learning and deep learning methods are applied here in order to statistically regularize the problem.

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of statistical methods for solving high-dimensional inverse problems in magnetic resonance imaging
  • Conducting comparisons with state-of-the-art methods of statistical data analysis
  • Applying the developed methods to real data
