Aufgabenbeschreibung:

The Insti­tute of Vete­ri­nary Bac­te­rio­logy of the Uni­ver­sity of Bern has an open posi­tion for a vete­ri­nary the­sis at the Swiss Natio­nal Refe­rence Labo­ra­tory for Anti­mi­cro­bial Resis­tance ent­it­led:

"Opti­mi­zed dosing regi­mens for the com­bi­na­ti­ons of sul­fonami­des and tri­me­tho­prim in vete­ri­nary medi­cine"

Erwartete Qualifikationen:

We are loo­king for a fle­xi­ble, enthu­si­astic and highly moti­va­ted DVM stu­dent to work on a European pro­ject, fun­ded by the Swiss Natio­nal Sci­ence Foun­da­tion (SNF) in the frame­work of the European Joint Pro­gramming Initia­tive on Anti­mi­cro­bial Resis­tance (JPIAMR). The JPIAMR pro­ject is focu­sed on opti­mi­zing dosing levels of tri­me­tho­prim and sul­fonami­des in seven dif­fe­rent ani­mal spe­cies.

The working package that invol­ves the DVM stu­dent con­cen­tra­tes on deter­mi­ning mini­mum inhi­bitory con­cen­tra­ti­ons (MICs) for tri­me­tho­prim in com­bi­na­tion with four selec­ted sul­fonami­des.

Requi­re­ments:
  • A vete­ri­nary degree wit­hin the last 5 years
  • Great inte­rest in labo­ra­tory work
  • High degree of inde­pen­dence and per­so­nal respon­si­bi­lity
  • Excel­lent com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills and curio­sity

Unser Angebot:

The remu­ne­ra­tion is in accordance with the Swiss SNF regu­la­ti­ons (annual gross salary of CHF 47'140 – 50'040). Ear­liest star­ting date is Febru­ary 2023 and the posi­tion is for 18 mon­ths. After the labo­ra­tory part of the DVM the­sis is finis­hed, we offer to enter into a three year resi­dency fel­low­ship of the European Col­lege of Vete­ri­nary Micro­bio­logy (ECVM).
