The Ima­ging, Sim­u­la­tion & Stim­u­la­tion Labor­at­ory hea­ded by Prof. Kay Raum is an inde­pend­ent and inter­dis­cip­lin­ary team of phys­i­cists, engin­eers, bio­chem­ists work­ing at cam­pus Ben­jamin Frank­lin on the devel­op­ment and clin­ical trans­la­tion of innov­at­ive ultra­sound tech­no­lo­gies for dia­gno­sis, tis­sue engin­eer­ing and treat­ment of mus­cu­lo­skeletal dis­eases.

Working field:

The Ima­ging, Sim­u­la­tion, & Stim­u­la­tion Lab at Char­ité-Uni­versitätsmed­izin Ber­lin is open­ing PostDoc and PhD pos­i­tions in the frame­work of a DFG pro­ject aim­ing at devel­op­ment, clin­ical trans­la­tion and val­id­a­tion of novel and unique ultra­sound tech­no­lo­gies to assess the bone health status non-invas­ively and without ion­iz­ing radi­ation. We tar­get the major mus­cu­lo­skeletal dis­eases of our age­ing soci­ety, i.e., osteo­porosis, but also aim at improv­ing dia­gnostic pos­sib­il­it­ies in pedi­at­ric applic­a­tions.

Requirements:

We are look­ing for can­did­ates with pro­found skills in ultra­sound tech­no­logy (prefer­ably ultra­sound array ima­ging), sig­nal pro­cessing, and pro­gram­ming skills (primar­ily Mat­lab/ option­ally C++). Within the frame­work of the pro­ject you will work tightly with aca­demic part­ners at Sor­bonne Uni­versity (https://www.lib.upmc.fr/) and North Car­o­lina State Uni­versity (https://www.mae.ncsu.edu/people/mmuller2/).
Candidates must have
  • a very good degree in phys­ics, engin­eer­ing (or equi­val­ent),
  • exper­i­ence in ultra­sound array ima­ging, beam­form­ing, etc.
  • very good pro­gram­ming skills (instru­ment­a­tion, data pro­cessing),
  • very good Eng­lish (man­dat­ory) and Ger­man (optional) writ­ing and com­mu­nic­a­tion skills.
Can­did­ates should be integ­rat­ive, but should be able to work inde­pent in a team
