Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den (TUD), as a Uni­ver­sity of Excel­lence, is one of the lea­ding and most dyna­mic rese­arch insti­tu­ti­ons in the coun­try. Rese­arch Asso­ciate (m/f/x)

The posi­tion is star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­tion is initi­ally limi­ted until Sep­tem­ber 30, 2025. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz – WissZeitVG). The posi­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion (e.g. PhD).

Working field:

We seek app­li­ca­ti­ons for a posi­tion in Quan­tum Tech­no­lo­gies for the theo­re­ti­cal and expe­ri­men­tal rea­li­za­tion of Quan­tum key Dis­tri­bu­tion pro­to­cols for future 6G indus­trial net­works. Low latency will be a cri­ti­cal key per­for­mance indi­ca­tor (KPI) in future 6G com­mu­ni­ca­tion net­works. Moreo­ver, the role of QKD will be pivo­tal to achieve effi­ci­ent secu­rity in the indus­trial net­work with Mobile Edge Com­pu­ting (MEC). In this con­text, the seam­less inte­gra­tion of quan­tum com­mu­ni­ca­ti­ons and 6G indus­trial net­works will be an important step to achieve the KPIs. You will study, design and rea­lise the con­trol plane for the QKD pro­to­col. This will ensure the avai­la­bi­lity of quan­tum keys and their effec­tive dis­tri­bu­tion in case of requests from the upper lay­ers. The con­trol plane will handle the events from the upper lay­ers and it will clas­si­cally con­trol the quan­tum chan­nel in pre­sence of two and three net­work nodes.

Requirements:

uni­ver­sity degree (Diploma/Mas­ter) in elec­tri­cal or elec­tro­nic engi­nee­ring, telecom­mu­ni­ca­ti­ons engi­nee­ring, com­pu­ter sci­ence, phy­sics, mathe­ma­tics, or equi­va­lent. Can­di­da­tes should be pro­fi­ci­ent in Eng­lish and have good oral and writ­ten com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills. Strong pro­gramming skills are highly recom­men­ded. Know­ledge of quan­tum mecha­nics and focus on expe­ri­men­tal phy­sics can be a plus.
