The DFG funded cooperation project (IR-SOM-ions) with the University Kassel Witzenhausen (Prof. B. Ludwig) focus on the mechanistic understanding of the interaction between OM and cations and their effects on the spectral properties of OM using Vis/NIR, MIR, and micro-MIR to develop an improved procedure for interpreting IR spectra. Within this project experiments for optimizing infrared spectroscopic characterization and quantification of soil organic matter at scales of increasing complexity will be designed together with the working groups of Prof. B. Ludwig (University Kassel-Witzenhausen).
