Our vis­ion is that all cit­izens in Europe are val­ued and empowered as act­ors in advan­cing know­ledge and innov­a­tion, and thus sup­port­ing sus­tain­able devel­op­ment. We want to estab­lish cit­izen sci­ence as a recog­nized, pro­moted and fun­ded approach, one that fosters sci­entific lit­er­acy and the demo­crat­iz­a­tion of sci­ence. Through this, we want to see an increase in the social rel­ev­ance and sus­tain­able impact of research, and a stronger evid­ence base for policy pro­cesses, in Europe and glob­ally.

Stu­dent Assist­ant in Sci­ence Com­mu­nic­a­tion at ECSA

The ECSA team is look­ing for a stu­dent assist­ant to sup­port our tasks in the Sci­ence
EngagE­ment for aDoles­centS (‘SEEDS’) pro­ject.

Working field:

SEEDS is a sci­ence research pro­ject by teen­agers for teen­agers. This job focuses on sci­ence com­mu­nic­a­tion and includes the fol­low­ing tasks:
  • Cre­ate web­site con­tent rel­ev­ant to teen­agers and other stake­hold­ers and pro­mote the con­tent to rel­ev­ant audi­ences online via social media (Web­site: https://seedsmakeathons.com/ and Twit­ter: https://twitter.com/smakeathons)
  • Rep­res­ent ECSA and SEEDS at cit­izen sci­ence events (online)
  • Con­trib­ute to dis­sem­in­a­tion cam­paigns for teen­agers and other stake­hold­ers
  • Attend monthly meet­ings between all part­ners work­ing on pro­ject com­mu­nic­a­tions (online)
  • Con­trib­ute to pro­ject admin­is­tra­tion and con­fer­ence plan­ning (e.g. time sheets, report­ing, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Exper­i­ence and interest in work­ing with part­ners from dif­fer­ent back­grounds
  • Exper­i­ence in online com­mu­nic­a­tion, includ­ing social media, blog posts, webinars, videos etc.
  • Exper­i­ence and interest in empower­ing teen­agers to improve their health
  • Exper­i­ence and interest in cit­izen sci­ence and sci­ence com­mu­nic­a­tion
  • Pro­fi­cient in using MS Office, Google Docs
  • Flu­ency in Eng­lish (writ­ten and oral)
  • Valid cer­ti­fic­ate of enrol­ment, ideally stu­dent engaged in MA stud­ies

Desir­able
  • Exper­i­ence with online Con­tent Man­age­ment Sys­tems (Word­Press spe­cific­ally)
  • Addi­tional lan­guages, par­tic­u­larly Greek, Catalan, Span­ish or Dutch
