The Fraun­ho­fer Insti­tute for Open Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Sys­tems (FOKUS) is loca­ted in Ber­lin-Char­lot­ten­burg and offers R&D ser­vices for the deve­lop­ment of seam­less, per­so­na­li­sable com­mu­ni­ca­tion sys­tems. With our cli­ents, we work through all sta­ges of the inno­va­tion pro­cess - from the initial idea, through rese­arch and deve­lop­ment in pro­jects, to pro­to­type deve­lop­ment, imple­men­ta­tion and pilot ope­ra­tion.

For our pro­jects in the areas of digi­tal admi­nis­tra­tion, col­la­bo­ra­tive, and public IT, we are loo­king for team-ori­en­ted rese­ar­chers (m/w/d) who want to pro­gress the digi­ta­li­sa­tion and moder­ni­sa­tion of governments and public admi­nis­tra­ti­ons. Principle Rese­ar­cher (m/w/d) to lead IT based digi­ta­li­sa­tion pro­jects in an agile envi­ron­ment

Aufgabenbeschreibung:

We are an inter­di­sci­pli­nary team, hel­ping governments and public admi­nis­tra­ti­ons to solve some of their big­gest chal­len­ges in IT and data. You can expect to work on pro­jects that are prac­ti­cally rele­vant for our cli­ents, address often publicly deba­ted policy issues and add value to society at large. As a team, we offer you a pro­fes­sio­nal and col­la­bo­ra­tive rese­arch envi­ron­ment where you can bring in your own rese­arch ideas and set your own prio­ri­ties. We work in an agile frame­work, allo­wing us to recon­cile the deli­very of cli­ent pro­jects with fle­xi­ble working hours.

Your respon­si­bi­li­ties:

  • End-to-end manage­ment of (sub-)natio­nal and inter­na­tio­nal IT rese­arch and con­sul­ting pro­jects for the digi­tal trans­for­ma­tion of governments and public admi­nis­tra­ti­ons.
  • Lea­ding the deve­lop­ment of tech­ni­cal solu­ti­ons for data plat­forms, open data, big data and smart cities.
  • Sup­por­ting the con­cep­tion and imple­men­ta­tion of func­tio­nal archi­tec­tures and/or soft­ware archi­tec­tures.
  • Con­tri­bu­ting to the pre­pa­ra­tion of sci­en­ti­fic stu­dies in the sub­ject areas of public IT, smart cities, digi­tal government .

In our pro­jects you will acquire or expand your know­ledge in one or more of the fol­lo­wing topics:

  • Seman­tic Web / Lin­ked Data
  • Open Data
  • Smart City
  • Data gover­nance
  • Big Data
  • Block­chain / Dis­tri­bu­ted Led­ger Tech­no­lo­gies
  • Know­ledge in the area of digi­tal government or in the digi­ta­li­sa­tion of public admi­nis­tra­tion

Erwartete Qualifikationen:

Essen­tial requi­re­ments:

  • Degree (Mas­ter’s or Diploma) in com­pu­ter sci­ence, mathe­ma­tics, phy­sics, busi­ness infor­ma­tics, admi­nis­tra­tive infor­ma­tics, or a rela­ted area.
  • Expe­ri­ence in lea­ding com­plex IT pro­jects in a multi-pro­ject and multi-sta­ke­hol­der envi­ron­ment.
  • Abi­lity to com­mu­ni­cate and trans­late tech­ni­cal topics to various audi­en­ces, par­ti­cu­larly to (inter­nal) deve­lo­per col­leagues, cli­ents, and other non-tech­ni­cal audi­en­ces.
  • Good know­ledge of soft­ware archi­tec­ture designs
  • A crea­tive, col­la­bo­ra­tive self-star­ter.
  • Good ana­ly­ti­cal and con­cep­tual thin­king pai­red with a struc­tu­red way of get­ting things done.
  • Very good know­ledge of Ger­man and Eng­lish.

Know­ledge in some of the fol­lo­wing areas is advan­ta­ge­ous, but not man­datory:

  • Micro­Ser­vices and their pro­vi­sion via con­tai­ners.
  • Con­tai­ner plat­forms, e.g. OpenS­hift, AWS.
  • Open Data, Seman­tic Web, Lin­ked Data.

This is a fixed-term con­tract with a dura­tion of two years.
