Product Mar­ket­ing Intern (April 2022)

This is a 6-month intern­ship start­ing in April 2022. The pos­i­tion will be based in Dreilinden (near Ber­lin).

Working field:

The Mar­ket PMM Intern will work on both mer­chant and con­sumer needs to gain a work­ing know­ledge of both sides of the busi­ness. They will be in charge of sup­port­ing local Mar­ket PMM in their daily activ­it­ies from get­ting a deep under­stand­ing of cus­tom­ers needs and used pay­ment products as well as under­stand­ing the com­pet­i­tion to enhance our users local exper­i­ences.

The intern­ship is a 6-month full-time intern­ship and will start in April 2022. The pos­i­tion will be based in our Ber­lin office.

Our team:

The Global Product Mar­ket­ing team [PMM] is setup to drive product com­mer­cial suc­cess in part­ner­ship with Mar­ket­ing, Global Product and Sales teams. PMM’s accom­plish this by deeply under­stand­ing and con­sist­ently cham­pi­on­ing the needs of the cus­tomer as a rep­res­ent­at­ive voice in all dis­cus­sions and decisions, ensur­ing product and fea­ture releases solve tan­gible cus­tomer pain points.

The Mar­ket PMM role is respons­ible for build­ing a deep under­stand­ing of the mar­ket, com­pet­it­ive land­scape, reg­u­lat­ory envir­on­ment and fin­an­cial ser­vices sys­tem as well as local cul­ture & inter­ac­tion with PayPal’s products & ser­vices across all cus­tomer seg­ments. It con­nects the dots between Mar­ket, Global Mar­ket­ing, Product and Sales teams at a local level to ensure accur­ate defin­i­tion and pri­or­it­iz­a­tion of product and fea­ture releases, improve­ments and bug fixes. While being aligned to spe­cific geo­graph­ies, Mar­ket PMMs are also respons­ible to col­lab­or­ate across mar­kets that serve each of our cus­tomer seg­ments in the iden­ti­fic­a­tion of oppor­tun­it­ies for busi­ness growth.

Key Respons­ib­il­it­ies:

Daily activ­it­ies are broken out into Inbound work and Out­bound work

From an inbound per­spect­ive (60% Time alloc­a­tion), the Mar­ket PMM con­tinu­ally defines the most import­ant cus­tomer needs and oppor­tun­it­ies. The Mar­ket PMM intern will col­lab­or­ate on the fol­low­ing activ­it­ies:

  • Inter­act­ing with the fol­low­ing teams; Sales, Mar­ket­ing, User Exper­i­ence Research, Mar­ket research & Cus­tomer Sup­port

  • Mod­er­at­ing or observing focus groups & 1:1 inter­views with cus­tom­ers

  • Stay­ing on top of and using com­pet­itor products in the Mar­ket

  • Stay­ing on top of Mar­ket insights & trend

Ulti­mately Mar­ket PMMs cre­ate a clear under­stand­ing of oppor­tun­it­ies across product and seg­ment in their mar­ket to allow pri­or­it­iz­a­tion at the global level. They will be able to help answer pri­or­ity cus­tomer ques­tions and requests with the local busi­ness, provid­ing deep expert­ise about our products.

From an out­bound per­spect­ive (40% Time alloc­a­tion), the Mar­ket PMM per­forms the in-mar­ket activ­it­ies to ensure suc­cess­ful Pilot test­ing and Product feed­back. The Mar­ket PMM intern will sup­port local Go to Mar­ket Strategy across sales, mar­ket­ing & func­tions at coun­try level and ensures local under­stand­ing of global product deliv­ery. They will con­stantly eval­u­ate end to end jour­neys to identify optim­iz­a­tion oppor­tun­it­ies end local exper­i­ence enhance­ment.

Great com­mu­nic­a­tion skills and abil­ity to work and col­lab­or­ate cross-func­tion­ally with external and internal teams includ­ing Product, Mar­ket­ing, Sales, Legal

Highly organ­ized, atten­tion to detail and fol­low-through. Should enjoy prob­lem solv­ing, fix­ing pro­cesses

Excel­lent writ­ten, verbal, and present­a­tion skills. Pro­fi­ciency in MS Word, Power­Point, Out­look and excel­lent in MS Excel

To Be Con­sidered You Must:

Enrolled in a Bach­elor or Mas­ter's degree in engin­eer­ing, busi­ness, mar­ket­ing, eco­nom­ics or data sci­ence at lead­ing Uni­versity, or equi­val­ent

Flu­ency in Eng­lish and Ger­man

Flu­ency in other European lan­guages is advant­age­ous

Be avail­able for a 6-month intern­ship start­ing in April 2022.

PayPal will be fol­low­ing local gov­ern­ment guidelines in rela­tion to the plan to reopen offices in Ger­many from 2022. Once offices reopen, interns will have the option to con­tinue to work remotely or work in the office (on a part-time or full-time basis)
