Tech­ni­sche Uni­ver­si­tät Dres­den - Cen­ter for Infor­ma­tion Ser­vices and High Per­for­mance Com­pu­ting (ZIH)

The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate

The posi­tion is offe­red, sub­ject to the avai­la­bi­lity of res­sour­ces, wit­hin the rese­arch pro­ject "DaFne – Plat­form Data Fusion Gene­ra­tor for Arti­fi­cial Intel­li­gence" star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble until Sep­tem­ber 30, 2023. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by the Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz - WissZeitVG). Balan­cing family and career is an important issue. In the DaFne pro­ject, methods for gene­ra­ting syn­the­tic trai­ning data for arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence (AI) in the area of smart cities and mobi­lity data are being deve­lo­ped and made avail­able to the public. Syn­the­tic trai­ning data serve data pro­tec­tion and enable the use of AI for future sce­n­a­rios for which no or insuf­fi­ci­ent data sets are yet avail­able. Working at ZIH offers you crea­tive sci­en­ti­fic work on the future topics of data sci­ence and AI with inter­na­tio­nally known experts, state-of-the-art – for data ana­ly­tics and machine lear­ning opti­mi­zed – IT infra­st­ruc­ture, the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­de­mic qua­li­fi­ca­tion, agree­ments on fle­xi­ble working hours and mobile work, a family-fri­endly working envi­ron­ment and life in a city of sci­ence and cul­ture sur­roun­ded by a uni­que land­s­cape.

Working field:

  • sci­en­ti­fic rese­arch and deve­lop­ment work in the area of qua­lity assess­ment of syn­the­tic trai­ning data genera­tion methods
  • eva­lua­tion and exten­sion of published qua­lity cri­te­ria con­si­de­ring the spe­ci­fic use-case in the area of smart cities and mobi­lity data
  • deve­lop­ment of visua­li­za­tion methods in rela­tion to qua­lity of syn­the­tic data
  • inte­gra­tion of the qua­lity assess­ment in an end user plat­form
  • coope­ra­tion with the natio­nal Ger­man com­pe­tence cen­ter for Big Data and Arti­fi­cial Intel­li­gence ScaDS.AI Dres­den/Leip­zig
  • publi­ca­tion of results and pre­sen­ta­tion at sci­en­ti­fic con­fe­ren­ces.

Requirements:

  • uni­ver­sity degree in mathe­ma­tics, com­pu­ter sci­ence or a com­pa­ra­ble engi­nee­ring or natu­ral sci­ence
  • very good know­ledge and expe­ri­ence in the fields of sta­tis­tics and data sci­ence
  • know­ledge in the areas arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence, machine lear­ning or data ana­ly­tics
  • a high degree of inde­pen­dence, com­mit­ment, fle­xi­bi­lity and team spi­rit
  • very good Eng­lish com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills.
  • Expe­ri­ence with HPC sys­tems, cloud com­pu­ting, visua­li­za­tion tools and data manage­ment methods is also desi­ra­ble.
