Das Fraun­ho­fer-Insti­tut für Holz­for­schung, Wil­helm-Klau­ditz-Insti­tut WKI ist spe­zia­li­siert auf Ver­fah­rens­tech­nik, Natur­fa­ser­ver­bund­kunst­stoffe, den Holz- und Emis­si­ons­schutz, die Qua­li­täts­si­che­rung von Holz­pro­duk­ten, Werk­stoff- und Pro­dukt­prü­fun­gen, Recy­cling­ver­fah­ren sowie die den Ein­satz von orga­ni­schen Bau­stof­fen und Holz im Bau. Nahezu alle Ver­fah­ren und Werk­stoffe, die aus der For­schungs­tä­tig­keit des Insti­tuts her­vor­ge­hen, wer­den indus­tri­ell genutzt. Wir arbei­ten anwen­dungs­ori­en­tiert eng mit den Unter­neh­men der Holz- und Möbel­wirt­schaft sowie der Zulie­fer­indus­trie ebenso zusam­men, wie mit der Bau­wirt­schaft, der Che­mi­schen Indus­trie und der Auto­mo­bil­wirt­schaft.


The Fraun­ho­fer Insti­tute for Wood Rese­arch, Wil­helm-Klau­ditz-Insti­tut WKI, in Braun­schweig, is loo­king for a highly moti­va­ted sci­en­ti­fic rese­arch asso­ciate (Post-doc level) to join the Junior Rese­arch Group at the Cen­ter for Light and Envi­ron­ment­ally Fri­endly Struc­tures ZELUBA® to carry out rese­arch in the field of “Long-term bond beha­viour and dura­bi­lity model­ling of adhe­sive-bonded FRP-tim­ber com­po­site hybrid struc­tures”

Working field:

In our depart­ment ZELUBA® the research activ­it­ies focus on devel­op­ing solu­tions for the build­ing sec­tors. Our stud­ies cover a wide spec­trum like build­ing mater­i­als and products, mech­an­ical char­ac­ter­iz­a­tion, dynam­ics of struc­tures, build­ing phys­ics, fire pro­tec­tion and numer­ical sim­u­la­tion. You will imple­ment research and devel­op­ment pro­jects and you are the con­tact per­son for our industry part­ners. Your col­leagues are accus­tomed to team­work. Your field of respons­ib­il­ity extends to the acquis­i­tion and pro­cessing of research pro­jects and the com­pre­hens­ive present­a­tion of research res­ults in peer-reviewed pub­lic­a­tions and at inter­na­tional con­fer­ences. In addi­tion, you are cap­able of famil­i­ar­iz­ing your­self with cur­rent pro­jects as well as devel­op­ing your own research per­spect­ives and trans­pos­ing these into research and indus­trial pro­jects.

You have a uni­ver­sity PhD degree in the field of civil engi­nee­ring, mate­rial sci­ence, engi­nee­ring sci­ence and mecha­nisms. Can­di­date with back­ground in tex­tile engi­nee­ring and sci­ence will also be con­si­de­red. In-depth know­ledge in the fields of engi­nee­ring sci­ence and mecha­nics, simu­la­tion, ana­ly­ti­cal model­ling, and struc­tu­ral ana­ly­sis at micro and macro-levels as well as mecha­ni­cal cha­rac­te­ri­za­tion of (Fibre Rein­forced Poly­mer) FRP-tim­ber com­po­site mate­ri­als and struc­tures is par­ti­cu­larly desi­ra­ble.
You are expec­ted to carry out both fun­da­men­tal- and app­lied-ori­en­ted rese­arch on the inter­fa­cial bond and dura­bi­lity model­ling of adhe­si­vely bonded FRP-tim­ber com­po­site struc­tures. You are expec­ted to sup­port and assist the Junior Rese­arch Group Lea­der with the pro­ject manage­ment and super­vi­sion of the gra­duate rese­arch assi­stant (PhD stu­dent level) in the respec­ted field. A strong com­mit­ment to inter­di­sci­pli­nary rese­arch, the acqui­si­tion of major and col­la­bo­ra­tive R&D pro­jects inclu­ding fun­da­men­tal and app­lied rese­arch is expec­ted. The col­la­bo­ra­tion wit­hin the rese­arch group and the insti­tute is essen­tial.
