University Professor - salary grade W3
for the field of "Age-Appropriate Human-Machine Systems".
Teaching and conduction research on the fundamentals, methods, and applications of the field of Age-Appropriate Human-Machine Systems.
Teaching in the interdisciplinary Master's degree program Human Factors, various Bachelor's and Master's engineering programs, as well as other study programs at TU Berlin.
Research related to new challenges and requirements for the analysis, evaluation, and design of human-machine systems as they apply to developmental changes in sensory, motor and cognitive abilities over a lifetime. Possible areas of focus include childhood/adolescence (e.g., teaching and learning systems, social media use) and/or everyday life and work design in the context of demographic change (e.g., mobility concepts, assistance systems, robotics, ambient systems).
Candidates must fulfill the requirements for appointment pursuant to Section 100 BerlHG (Berlin State Higher Education Act). Of particular importance are a university degree, a strong aptitude for research demonstrated, as a rule, by a doctorate in psychology, ergonomics, human factors, engineering, computer science, or a related subject, additional scientific achievements (positively evaluated junior professorship, Habilitation or equivalent) as well as teaching skills and experience demonstrated by a teaching portfolio (for further information about the portfolio, see Technische Universität Berlin’s website, quick access 144242).
Excellent research work is also expected, generally demonstrated by international publications and the acquisition of third-party funding. Successful candidates are expected to have experience of interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of technical systems taking into account age-appropriate interaction principles, as well as the willingness to integrate gender issues into their research and teaching. The assumption of responsibility for heading an academic chair and managing its staff, possess the requisite skills for the advancement of junior scholars and women and to deal with the issue of gender and diversity, as well as show active commitment to knowledge and technology transfer and science communication. Applicants must be able to conduct teaching in German and English. Excellent English skills are required. Non-German-speaking applicants are expected to demonstrate commitment to learning German.
