The Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD) at TU Berlin is looking for a research assistant for a research group of the BZML under the direction of Prof. Klaus-Robert Müller.

Work­ing field:

  • Research at the intersection of machine learning and differential geometry
  • Development of robust methods to explain Neural Network classifier decisions
  • Theoretical and practical analysis of explanation methods, connecting explanation methods with generative models
  • GANs, Nfs, VAEs
  • Manifold learning


  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Applied Mathematics
  • Profound knowledge in machine learning, differential calculus.
  • Practical experience in the development and application of machine learning algorithms, as well as parallel computing on GPUs
  • Solid programming skills, especially experience with ML and linear algebra libraries (Julia, SciML, JAX, PyTorch, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English
