The position is starting September 1, 2021. The position is offered until August 31, 2024. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (WissZeitVG). The TU Dresden Immersive Experience Lab (IXLAB.io) conducts interdisciplinary research into the perceptual foundations, applications and creative possibilities of immersive media. Our work combines elements of perceptual and computer science, engineering and art and design. Current projects include immersive psychotherapy, data visualisation, architecture, embodied artificial intelligence and a-life, immersive theatre and music and research in multisensory perception. We are seeking a talented computer scientist or engineer to conduct innovative research in the field of immersive media, using state-of-the-art virtual and augmented reality systems.
Collaborating with scientists, engineers and artists from various disciplines to develop immersive experiments, applications and artistic creations
leading development of a large multi-user mixed-reality platform
maintenance of technical facilities and infrastructure
publishing and present research results at international conferences and in academic journals, supervising student employees, teaching seminars and tutorials and supervising student research projects.
The candidate will have the opportunity to develop his or her own courses.
university degree and - if applicable - PhD degree in computer science or engineering or related subjects.
Strong C++ or C# and GPU programming and real-time 3D graphics and game-engine experience (e.g. Unreal, Unity).
Fluency with written and spoken English (knowledge of German is not necessary, but advantageous).
Desirable skills and experience:
virtual or augmented reality development
experience working in or leading interdisciplinary teams on artistic or scientific projects
experience with 3D tracking systems; machine learning
3D modelling and 3D pipeline workflows (e.g. Blender, Maya, Houdini)
publications in relevant conferences or journals.
