Freelance positions as instructor for
“Academic and Vocational English” and
“English for Specific Purposes”
The Foreign Languages Department at HTWK Leipzig, University of Applied Sciences, is offering
several teaching contracts on a freelance basis for the courses “Academic and Vocational English”
(AVE) and “English for Specific Purposes” (ESP) (level B2 CEFR) in winter semester 2021/22. All
courses include the responsibility to administer oral and written student examinations.
We require teachers who can provide AVE/ESP for the following study programs:
− Business Administration (Bachelor’s degree),
− Computer Science and Media Informatics (Bachelor’s degree),
− Energy, Building Services and Environmental Engineering (Bachelor’s degree),
− Multimedia Technology (Bachelor’s degree),
− Structural Engineering (Master’s degree)
− preparation, teaching (presence, blended and/or online) and follow-up of lessons, including
contributions to the courses e- or blended learning materials,
− preparation for the administering and documentation of examinations (oral and written)
following the required legal framework.
− recognised university degree,
− English language skills, at least on level C1 CEFR,
− experience and knowledge in EFL/ESP teaching, assessing and examining, preferably at an
institution of higher education,
− knowledge in the fields of e-learning / blended learning and learning management systems,
− German language skills at least on level A2 CEFR,
− the legal right to work in Germany / tax identification number
What we offer:
The individual teaching contracts range between 14 and 56 teaching units of 45 minutes. However,
in total, teaching contracts may not supersede a maximum of 168 teaching units per person per
semester. We prefer freelancers who are looking for a long-term commitment.
We pay 25,- EUR per teaching unit of 45 minutes, plus a fixed amount of 5,- EUR per teaching unit
when examinations are involved. Travel expenses can be reimbursed upon request in accordance
with the Saxon Travel Expenses Act.
