Work­ing field:

Research in robotics, with a focus on cognitive systems, robotic learning in the real world, autonomous manipulation, soft robotics, interactive perception, learning by demonstration; participation in teaching computer science courses.

Require­ments:

Succesfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science or related field.
Excellent knowledge and experience in one of the research areas specified below:
  • Robotic machine learning: applying (deep) learning techniques to problems in perception, manipulation, and reasoning
  • Soft robotic manipulation: designing and building soft robots; development of sensorization for soft actuator; leveraging the design and end-effectors in control, planning, and learning for grasping, manipulation, and in-hand manipulation
  • Interactive perception: multimodal perception for real-world actions, differentiable programming and control for action/perception loops, biologically inspired, physical cognitive abilities, recursive estimation
  • Learning by demonstration: deep learning for control with complex contact dynamics, interactive learning with a human in the loop, algorithmic teaching.
Interest in interdisciplinary research; experience in programming robots in the real world.
Good (deep) machine learning skills.
Experiences in machine perception.
Arrangement and planning are desired.
Very good English skills are essential; sufficient language proficiency to teach classes in both German and English is expected.
