The Department of Hydrogeology deals with the sustainable management of water resources in hydrologically sensitive regions that require modern concepts due to land use and climate change. The main task of the position holder is the development of large-scale groundwater models for porous aquifers. The main focus is the simulation of the impact of climate change and socioeconomic change in Lusatia on the groundwater resources of Brandenburg and Berlin. Modern methods, such as geostatistical methods, will be used for aquifer parameterization and uncertainty analysis. In addition, classical field methods of hydrogeology will be used for aquifer characterization. Intensive interaction with Berlin’s and Brandenburg’s local authorities will allow for practical results. The candidate is expected to teach hydrogeological classes with 4 SWS per semester and to supervise bachelor and master theses. The focus is on hydrogeological field methods and techniques of hydro(geo)logical modeling.
We are searching for a person with experience in large-scale groundwater modeling. In addition to a successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD in hydrogeology, experience in the following fields is required:
3D transient flow models of the unsaturated and saturated zone,
use of script languages,
publishing of the results in scientific publications, and
Sufficient language proficiency to teach classes in both German and English is expected.
Furthermore, experience in hydrogeological field experiments and experience in hydrogeological consulting companies is advantageous.
