Work­ing field:

In the project "Berliner Polizeistudie: eine diskriminierungskritische und qualitative Untersuchung zur/in der Polizei Berlin", a discrimination-critical, qualitative study of the Berlin police authority is carried out, especially looking at the job training and further education. The focus of the study is on the one hand how people affected by racism and discrimination perceive the Berlin police authorities and what their experiences are. On the other hand, the study looks at mechanisms in the everyday work of the police and in police-institutional processes which might promote behavior which might be perceived as racist and discriminatory.

Require­ments:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in sociology or social sciences or a related, relevant field of study
  • Good knowledge of qualitative social research methods
  • Expertise in one or two of the following research areas: Migration, racism, discrimination, security, police
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken German, good knowledge of English is an asset
  • Experience in ethnographic sociology and in conducting focus groups desired
