Work­ing field:

A PhD position is available immediately in the Biomolecular Modelling Group (Department of Chemistry) at the Technical University in Berlin. Our research is mainly focussed on Molecular Dynamics simulations of the Cytochrome c Oxidase combined with the computation of electrostatic and spectroscopic properties by means of Quantum Mechanical / Molecular Mechanical hybrid methods. The PhD-student will specifically work on the application of QM/MM-based approaches for estimating vibrational Stark effect and thereby contribute to the elucidation of the effect of local electric fields on protein function. This project is integrated in the SFB (Collaborative Research Center) 1078 ' Protonation Dynamics in Protein Function '.
PhD thesis preparation is possible.

Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in physics, chemistry or in biochemistry, experience with computational chemistry methods, strong background in programming and very good command of German and English (written and spoken).
