European University Viadrina - Chair of Sociology of Technology at the European new School of Digital Studies (ENS)
The chair of Sociology of Technology is home of the Science & Technology Studies Group at the European New School of Digital Studies. Its research focuses on infrastructures of digital Europe, on interdisciplinary forms of co-creation und prototyping, as well as on digital and in(ter)ventive methods. Based on a strong background in sociology and cultural studies we collaborate with researchers from computer science, electrical engineering, political science, philosophy and history and are engaged with actors from politics, civil society and the arts.

Fields of tasks and required competences:
Applicants are required to be able to perform tasks in one or more of the following domains:
Academic support of research and publication activities (e.g. reviewing literature, creating text corpora and overviews, media research, proofreading) Background in social science or cultural studies preferred
Coding and use of software for research and projects (e.g. developing parsers, handling databases, and digital methods and data analytics tools, creating project websites.) Experiences with Python, Selenium, Python, R are preferred
Support of research creation, participatory design and artistic research projects (e.g. organizing interdisciplinary workshops, supporting design processes, presentations and exhibitions) Background in artistic studies, art or cultural education, curation, or artistic research preferred
General support (e.g. preparing readers, communicating with the university library, maintaining repositories, organizing academic and stakeholder workshops)
Applicants should be enrolled in a bachelor or master program in the social sciences, humanities, computer science, arts or design.
Openness to STS concepts and experience with qualitative social science research methods is desirable.
You should be interested in working across the disciplines and in engaging with other knowledge cultures.
You should further be capable of and interested in working both as part of a team and independently.
Fluency in English is essential for the academic life at the center.
