The position is starting at June 1, 2021 for 3 years with 85 % of the full-time weekly hours in the field of Metabolic Engineering, subject to the availability of resources. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
You will be involved in our work in a project with international partners to develop bacterial strains for the microbial production of value-added chemicals. Your tasks will include the optimization of fermentation protocols in bioreactors, the analysis of producer strains with systems biology methods (13C-based metabolic flux analyses, transcriptome and metabolome analyses) and genetic engineering of producer strains.
university degree (Diploma/Master) in bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry or a comparable discipline. Practical experience in the study and development of production strains or optimization of fermentation processes is desired.
