At the BIH Johanna Quandt Professorship "Hypertension and Molecular Biology of Endocrine Tumors", we focus on the genetics and physiology of the kidney and the adrenal gland. As part of the CRC 1453 (Nephrogenetics), we invite applications for the position of a dedicated postdoc in the project "Primary aldosteronism - genetics, pathophysiology and role in hypertensive kidney disease". Primary aldosteronism is the most common cause of secondary hypertension. In rare cases, it is inherited as a Mendelian disorder (familial hyperaldosteronism). In this project, we aim to identify new candidate genes for familial hyperaldosteronism and characterize their function. We also plan to study kidney damage in an established mouse model of familial hyperaldosteronism.
