The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

At the Insti­tute of Pro­cess Engin­eer­ing and Envir­on­mental Tech­no­logy, the Pro­cess Sys­tems Engin­eer­ing Group (leaded by Prof. Urbas, Chair of Pro­cess Con­trol Sys­tems) offers a pos­i­tion as
Research Asso­ci­ate start­ing as soon as pos­sible. The pos­i­tion is lim­ited until 31.12.2021. The period of employ­ment is gov­erned by the Fixed Term Research Con­tracts Act (Wis­senschaft­szeitver­trags­ge­setz-Wis­sZeitVG). The pos­i­tion offers the chance to obtain fur­ther aca­demic qual­i­fic­a­tion.

Work­ing field:

The focus of your task is the func­tio­nal exten­sion of our pro­cess orches­tra­tion level soft­ware com­po­nent for modu­lar plants, which con­sists of a front­end and a backend. The backend orga­ni­zes the con­trol of the modu­les via OPC UA and pro­vi­des func­tions via webso­ckets for the front­end, while the front­end pro­vi­des the user inter­face. The rese­arch results will be coor­di­na­ted with the pro­ject part­ners from indus­try and sci­ence and will be published at inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces and in reco­gnised jour­nals.


above average uni­ver­sity degree in the field of com­pu­ter sci­ence, infor­ma­tion sys­tems engi­nee­ring, elec­tri­cal engi­nee­ring, pro­cess infor­ma­tics or rela­ted fields. You should have an enthu­si­asm for new chal­len­ges. This requi­res solid know­ledge of describ­ing infor­ma­tion models, as well as good pro­gramming skills in TypeScript, node.js, angu­lar. An inde­pen­dent, goal- and solu­tion-ori­en­ted way of working and inter- and mul­ti­di­sci­pli­nary thin­king as well as a con­fi­dent com­mand of the Eng­lish and Ger­man lan­guage, both spo­ken and writ­ten.
