The Berlin Mathematics Research Center MATH+ sets out to advance mathematics itself and its interdisciplinary power with the aim of achieving progress on grand challenges in a wide variety of application fields.
The position is part of the research project EF4-5 "An agent-based understanding of Green Growth" in MATH+ to be carried out by the junior research group "Mathematics for sustainability transitions" of Dr. Sarah Wolf at Freie Universität Berlin. The successful candidate shall develop, validate and analyse a series of economic agent-based models for understanding Green Growth, that is, a transition to a carbon neutral economy that comes with benefits also in economic and social dimensions. The ABMs shall be grounded in a background of standard economic model results and shall be mathematically analysed in terms of iterated games on networks and/or interacting particle systems. The opportunity for obtaining a doctorate is provided.
Completed university studies (master's degree or equivalent) in Mathematics or a related discipline.
• Experience in some or all of the following fields: agent-based and/or economic modelling, game theory and evolutionary game theory, dynamical systems, stochastic processes
• Experience with interdisciplinary work
• Good command of written and spoken English; German is an asset
• An interest in the topic of sustainability transitions
• Good programming skills
