Uni­ver­sity Pro­fes­sor - salary grade W3

in the field of Psy­cho­logy of Action and Auto­ma­tion.

Work­ing field:

Teach­ing and con­duct­ing research in the area of Psy­cho­logy of Action and Auto­ma­tion, includ­ing fun­da­ment­als, meth­ods and applic­a­tions. Exper­i­mental research in the field of Psy­cho­logy of Action (e.g. psy­cho-motor­ics, per­cep­tion, atten­tion, mul­ti­task­ing) and applic­a­tion-ori­ented research in the field of Psy­cho­logy of Auto­ma­tion (e.g. inter­act­ing with assist­ance or cyber-phys­ical sys­tems) form the focus of the aca­demic chair’s research port­fo­lio. The courses offered are inten­ded primar­ily for stu­dents of the inter­dis­cip­lin­ary Mas­ter's Pro­gram Human Factors, but also for stu­dents of other Bach­elor’s and Mas­ter’s degree pro­grams at the TU Ber­lin, espe­cially in the fields of mech­an­ical engin­eer­ing, trans­port­a­tion engin­eer­ing and com­puter sci­ence.

Require­ments:

Can­did­ates must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance with § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act), includ­ing a uni­versity degree, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (PhD, prefer­ably in Psy­cho­logy of Action or Engin­eer­ing Psy­cho­logy), addi­tional aca­demic achieve­ments (Habil­it­a­tion or equi­val­ent) and ped­ago­gical didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions demon­strated by a per­tin­ent teach­ing port­fo­lio and teach­ing eval­u­ations (fur­ther inform­a­tion avail­able on the TUB web­site, quick access 144242).
Applic­ants should have very good exper­i­ence and per­form­ance in both teach­ing and research in the field of exper­i­mental Psy­cho­logy of Action (e.g., psy­cho-motor­ics, per­cep­tion, atten­tion or mul­ti­task­ing), and/or Psy­cho­logy of Auto­ma­tion (e.g., inter­ac­tion with assist­ance or cyber-phys­ical sys­tems).
If the pre­vi­ous focus has been on one of these areas only, con­crete con­nec­tions to the other area should be vis­ible. The required expert­ise has to be doc­u­mented through inter­na­tional pub­lic­a­tions, suc­cess­ful third-party fund­ing and a per­tin­ent teach­ing port­fo­lio. Fur­ther­more, exper­i­ences from inter­dis­cip­lin­ary co-oper­a­tions in the fields of Psy­cho­logy of Action and/or Psy­cho­logy of Auto­ma­tion are desir­able, prefer­ably with engin­eers and/or com­puter sci­ent­ists, as well as a will­ing­ness to integ­rate issues related to gender research into their research and teach­ing.
The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate is expec­ted to assume respons­ib­il­ity for lead­er­ship and man­age­ment of an aca­demic chair and its employ­ees and should pos­sess the requis­ite skills for the advance­ment of junior schol­ars and women, as well as gender and diversity com­pet­ence and act­ive com­mit­ment to know­ledge and tech­no­logy trans­fer and sci­ence com­mu­nic­a­tion.
Teach­ing is to be con­duc­ted in Ger­man and Eng­lish. Excel­lent Eng­lish skills are required. Non-Ger­man speak­ing applic­ants are expec­ted to be will­ing to learn Ger­man.
