RWTH Aachen - Lehrstuhl für Anorganische Chemie und Elektrochemie

The interdiciplinary cluster of excellence „Fuel Science Center“ - Adaptive Conversion Systems for Renewable Energy and Carbon Sources“, is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) within framework of the Excellence Initiative at the RWTH. The overall aim is the development of innovative engine concepts for highly efficient and clean combustion, utilizing the combination of renewable electricity and “bio-hybrid fuels” ( In this context we aim at evaluating a detailed understanding of fuel-catalyst interactions on the molecular level at engine relevant conditions. This includes the development of new catalyst coatings, material characterization as well as investigations in pre-screening setups and rapid scan diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) measurements.

We offer a 3-year PhD fellowship in an international and highly interdiciplinary network with fellow researchers.
