The inter­di­ci­pli­nary clus­ter of excel­lence "Fuel Sci­ence Cen­ter" - Adap­tive Con­ver­sion Sys­tems for Rene­wa­ble Energy and Car­bon Sources", is fun­ded by the Deut­sche For­schungs­ge­mein­schaft (DFG) wit­hin the frame­work of the Excel­lence Initia­tive at the RWTH. The over­all aim is the deve­lop­ment of inno­va­tive engine con­cepts for highly effi­ci­ent and clean com­bus­tion, uti­li­zing the com­bi­na­tion of rene­wa­ble elec­tri­city and "bio-hybrid fuels" (http://www.fuelcenter.rwth-aachen.de/go/id/irmy/?). In this con­text our aim is the deve­lop­ment of adap­tive cata­lysts and cata­ly­tic sys­tems for the exhaust aftertre­at­ment of advan­ced com­bus­tion pro­ces­ses.
We offer a 2-year Post Doc­to­ral Rese­ar­cher posi­tion in an inter­na­tio­nal and highly inter­di­ci­pli­nary net­work with fel­low rese­ar­chers.

Post Doctoral Researcher

Auf­ga­ben­be­sch­rei­bung:

  • Pro­ject manage­ment respons­ables. Inclu­ding super­vi­sion of the pro­ject pro­gress, com­mu­ni­ca­tion with pro­ject part­ners, pre­sen­ta­tion of results and help PhD stu­dents invol­ved in this topic.
  • Pre­pa­ring of results for publi­ca­tion in peer-reviewed jour­nals.
  • Atten­ding semi­nars and mee­tings wit­hin the FSC.
  • Pre­pa­ra­tion of mul­ti­func­tio­nal LnMO3 (Ln=lan­t­ha­nide ele­ments; M=tran­si­tion metals) perovs­kite cata­lysts.
  • Imple­men­ta­tion of mecha­nistic stu­dies app­ly­ing in situ IS and IS-DRIFTS, ope­rando IR and UV/Vis spec­tro­scopy (both in reflec­tion mode) mea­su­rements.
  • Inves­ti­ga­tion of poten­tial struc­ture-inter­ac­tion-reac­tivity cor­re­la­ti­ons and iden­ti­fy­ing poten­tial descrip­tors for fast cata­lyst scree­ning by inves­ti­ga­tion of the inter­ac­tions bet­ween the gaseous exhaust spe­cies and perovs­kite cata­lysts.
  • Inves­ti­ga­tion of the influ­ence of micro­wave irra­dia­tion on the low-tem­pe­ra­ture cata­ly­tic per­for­mance.

Er­war­te­te Qua­li­fi­ka­tio­nen:

App­li­cants must have a doc­to­rate/Ph.D. or equi­va­lent.
  • Hol­der of a PhD in natu­ral sci­en­ces of mate­rial sci­en­ces.
  • Hol­der of a uni­ver­sity degree in natu­ral or mate­ri­als sci­en­ces with above average scores.
  • Inte­rest in inno­va­tive and inter­di­sci­pli­nary topics.
  • High sense of respon­si­bi­lity, strong com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills, initia­tive and team spi­rit.

Un­ser An­ge­bot:

The posi­tion is 2 years and is to be fil­led as soon as pos­si­ble. This is a full-time posi­tion.


The salary cor­re­sponds to level EG 13 TV-L.
