The Bank for International Settlements is an international organisation promoting global monetary and financial stability, and a bank for central banks. We are seeking highly organised and efficient Administrative Officers to work in our Monetary and Economic Department (MED).
Your contribution to our mission
The role requires you to prepare documents and publications. You will also maintain the business area’s databases of information and contact details. In addition, you will manage the business area’s web pages on both the BIS intranet and external restricted web applications.
Depending on your skillset and interest, you will work in one of the following areas:
Statistics & Research Support
As part of a team you will provide administrative support to the unit’s work, especially as regards the production of the BIS international banking and financial statistics, the support of various BIS-hosted financial stability groups (especially the International Data Hub and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision) and the BIS Data Bank for central banks. You will also coordinate arrangements for internal and external meetings, workshops and events.
You will work with other business units to ensure the timely production and correct formatting of BIS documents and publications. You will work as part of a team to provide administrative support to the Administration unit and MED as needed.

Your qualifications and experience
We look forward to meeting candidates with A-levels, a two-year secretarial diploma or equivalent and a strong interest in MED activities (eg economic analysis, statistics). A bachelor’s degree is a plus. You will have excellent organisational, time management and computer (particularly Microsoft Office) skills. You should also have very good English and proficiency in German or another major world language.

The BIS’s head office is located in Basel, Switzerland, with representative offices in Hong Kong SAR and Mexico City. All new staff members are recruited on a fixed-term basis without expectation either of any contract renewal or conversion. The contract may however be extended or converted to an open-ended one at the end of the term, subject to organisational needs and individual performance.
