The Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden – in short IFW Dresden – is a non-university research institute and a member of the Leibniz Association. The IFW employs approximately 600 people and one focus is on the training of young scientists besides enhancing fun-damental and applied research development. At the highest international level, the IFW operates modern materials science on a scientific basis and makes the obtained results useful for the economy. in the field of Acoustofluidics
Focus = Research activity in the innovative field of SAW-based acoustofluidics:
Conception and implementation of novel lithography techniques for the on-chip integration of microfluidic structures and the deposition of functional layers on chip substrates
Conception of a modular acoustofluidic platform with industrial relevance
Material characterization on (thin) layers and lithographically-produced microstructures
Assistance in the preparation of the project report, in the cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as in the acquisition of third-party funded projects

You have successfully completed a doctorate in the field of acoustofluidics or in adjacent areas such as microsystems technology / thin-film technology, material science, microfluidics, high-frequency technology, biochip technology or (bio-)process engineering.
You have extensive practical experience in application-oriented research, in particular in 2D / 3D-CAD design and in the field of lithographic techniques as well as microtechnological manufacturing and analysis methods.
We expect a professional working style, scientific know-how, teamwork and motivation in research. As an international research institution, we require very good language skills in English. Good language skills in German are advantageous.
What we offer:
The Institute for Complex Materials offers a Post-doc-Position (f/m) in the Micro- and Nanostructures Devices Group, starting from October 2018.
The employment contract is limited to 24 month as a full-time position. The salary is based upon the TV-L rules (EG 13).
