Work­ing field:

Rese­arch in the field of data­base sys­tems, big data ana­lyt­ics and data sci­ence; advan­ced devel­op­ment of inform­a­tion man­age­ment the­ory and algo­rithms, regard­ing sys­tems for par­al­lel and dis­trib­uted ana­lysis on large amount of data. The focus of the work is on het­ero­gen­eous pro­ces­sors wit­hin the scope of the pro­ject "Hawk", which is fun­ded by the Deut­sche For­schungs­ge­meinsch­aft wit­hin the frame­work of the pri­or­ity pro­gram "Data Man­age­ment for Future Hard­ware".


Suc­cess­fully com­ple­ted uni­ver­sity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Com­puter Sci­ence or sim­ilar; requi­red are in-depth know­ledge in SQL data­bases and their inter­nal archi­tec­ture as well as hard­ware archi­tec­tures for data man­age­ment (Multi-Core CPUs, GPUs, other cop­ro­ces­sors); in-depth know­ledge in the areas of par­al­lel pro­gram­ming for het­ero­gen­eous pro­ces­sors (OpenCL or CUDA), and column-ori­ented data­base sys­tems; exper­i­ence in open source pro­jects (e.g., code devel­op­ment, Git­hub) as well as the requi­red pro­gram­ming and soft­ware devel­op­ment skills; very good pro­gram­ming skills in C++; busi­ness flu­ent lan­guage skills in Eng­lish (writ­ten and spo­ken). Desir­able skills: in-depth know­ledge in com­piler con­struc­tion and the LLVM frame­work; pre­fer­ably intern­ships in indus­try; exper­i­ence with pro­ject man­age­ment; abil­ity to work in a team and reli­ab­il­ity.
