IHP is an insti­tute of the Leib­niz Asso­ci­ation and con­ducts research and devel­op­ment of sil­icon-based sys­tems and ultra high-fre­quency cir­cuits and tech­no­lo­gies includ­ing new mater­i­als. It devel­ops innov­at­ive solu­tions for applic­a­tion areas such as wire­less and broad­band com­mu­nic­a­tion, secur­ity, med­ical tech­no­logy, industry 4.0, auto­mot­ive industry, and aerospace. IHP employs approx­im­ately 300 people. It oper­ates a pilot line for tech­no­lo­gical devel­op­ments and the pre­par­a­tion of high-speed cir­cuits with 0.13/0.25 µm BiC­MOS tech­no­lo­gies, loc­ated in a 1000 m² class 1 clean­room.

Sci­ent­ist - PhD Stu­dent/PostDoc (m/f)

in Mater­i­als Research for SiGeSn light emit­ting devices

Work­ing field:

The research is focused on the invest­ig­a­tion of the optical, struc­tural, and elec­trical trans­port prop­er­ties of group IV het­ero­struc­tures made of SiGeSn alloys in view of their pos­sible use as act­ive mater­ial in light sources integ­rated in the sil­icon tech­no­logy. The invest­ig­a­tion will be car­ried out mainly using a state of the art micro-pho­to­lu­min­es­cence and elec­tro­lu­min­es­cence set-up, x-ray dif­fracto­met­ers, micro-Raman spec­tro­scope, and Hall meas­ure­ment set-up

Require­ments:

  • Mas­ter degree or a PhD in the rel­ev­ant field,
  • Strong back­ground in solid state phys­ics (in par­tic­u­lar optoe-lec­tron­ics),
  • Know­ledge of the related mater­ial char­ac­ter­iz­a­tion tech­niques (in par­tic­u­lar pho­to­lu­min­es­cence and X-ray dif­frac­tion etc.)
  • Expec­ted to be highly motiv­ated with very good exper­i­mental and the­or­et­ical skills
  • Very good oral and writ­ten skills in Eng­lish
