Participation in a research project on the electrochemical valorization of CO2 to formic acid and ethylene. The position also includes project coordination and presentation of project results to project partners.
successfully completed scientific university degree (master's, diploma or equivalent) and doctorate in chemistry, chemical engineering or related fields with a focus on CO₂ refinement and scale-up
relevant experience is required:
(i) in the building, spectroscopic and chromatographic characterization of CO2 gas diffusion electrodes and cells under extended test times (> 100 h) on the low kW scale,
(ii) in the operation, analysis, and kinetic and stability characterization of zero-gap CO2 electrolyzer cells and stacks as well as their components such as in solid electrolytes
strong experimental skills in CO2 electrolysis and upgrading to Formic acid in solid electrolytes
experience with CO2 cell scaling and the electrochemical 5 electrode testing technique
strong scientific writing skills with a track record of publications
good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills
independent scientific working style (is desirable)
knowledge of electrochemical reactor engineering and scale-up (is desirable)
very good teamwork skills, especially with regard to supervising students (is desirable)
experience in project acquisition (is desirable)
