Management of the SFB / Transregio (TRR) 388 office and coordination of the joint project - Scientific coordinator (PostDoc) - salary grade E14 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen

Working field:

In the SFB/Transregio 388 "Rough Analysis, Stochastic Dynamics and Related Fields" we investigate the interplay of rough analysis and stochastic dynamics. Central aspects come from rough paths, as well as developments based on them for nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations. The theory of rough paths, signatures and rough volatility creates manifold connections to algebra, statistics, financial mathematics and biology.
The Scientific Coordinator plays a central and leading role in all aspects of the SFB/Transregio 388 and acts as managing director of the network. The coordinator is supported in his/her tasks by a secretarial position (E9).

  • Coordination of the consortium with over 60 participating scientists, 7 participating institutions, spread over 4 locations (TU, HU, FU, WIAS) in Berlin alone
  • Coordination and controlling of the SFB's personnel and material resources (approx. 2.5 million Euros per year)
  • Management ot the SFB's equal opportunities measures
  • Project management and controlling of the overall project progress
  • Advice as well as active and independent support of the SFB spokespersons in all organizational matters
  • Coordination of committee work (preparation and follow-up of meetings of the General Assembly, the Executive Board and the Scientific Advisory Board as well as monitoring the implementation of committee decisions, preparation of the annual activity report for the Scientific Advisory Board)
  • Contact person for all those involved in all aspects of the SFB (both scientific statt and administrative statt of the participating institutions), in particular responsible for all communication with the DFG and the partner institutions
  • Coordination of reporting and (follow-up) proposals to the DFG
  • Organization of seminars, workshops and conferences as well as other SFB events (including events for the evaluation of scientific projects (reviews) and the external presentation of the SFB)
  • Public relations of the SFB (target group-oriented communication of scientific content; web, media and press work, including the creation of press releases, conceptual and editorial editing of websites and social media channels, creation of information material (e.g. flyers, brochures and newsletters)
  • Supporting the consortium in research data management

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master's, Diploma or equivalent) and doctorate in mathematics and subsequent professional experience in a relevant mathematical field, ideally in stochastics
  • Experience with administrative/coordination tasks in the university environment of scientific collaborative projects or the ability to acquire such experience
  • Experience with collaborative projects, also through participation in review processes
  • Practical experience in the planning, organization and implementation of events
  • Experience or clearly recognizable interest in science communication and public relations
  • Confident use of relevant Office software products (e.g. Google Workspace), CMS (e.g. Typo3), LaTeX, also in combination with cloud solutions; if necessary, willingness to undergo relevant further training
  • Excellent German and English language skills as weil as very good communication skills (written and spoken)

Desirable:

  • Excellent organizational, teamwork and communication skills, independence and an above-average sense of responsibility, commitment and flexibility
