Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)

At the Faculty of Biology, the Chair of Botany offers a position as

Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting October 1, 2024. The position is limited until September 30, 2028 with the option of extension. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (usually habilitation thesis).

Working field:

  • Development of an own research profile in a current field of organismic botany. Possible research topics could be: Biogeography, recording, protection and conservation of plant diversity, preferably with reference to existing collaborations in Angola and Vietnam or systematics and phylogeny with preferentially under intensive use of the Botanic Garden's collections. Your own proposals for a research program in the above-mentioned area are also welcome.
  • independent acquisition of third-party funding projects and their implementation
  • supervision of Bachelor and Master theses as well as student and research assistants and interns
  • cooperation with partners inside and outside the TUD
  • scientific teaching tasks in the Bachelor's and Master's programs in which the Faculty of Biology is involved (German and/or English)
  • presentation of research results at conferences and writing of scientific publications

Requirements:

  • university and very good PhD degree in the field of biology with focus on botany or a comparable science area
  • experience in field work under tropical and subtropical conditions is an advantage
