With around 12,000 students, the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR Berlin) is one of the largest higher-education institutions in Berlin. Economics, private and public business law, administrative, legal and security management as well as engineering degree programmes are offered under one roof. As soon as possible and for a duration of three years, we are looking for a

Research assistant (m/f/d) and PhD candidate in environmental economics at the Department of Business and Economics working with Professor Börger

(pay grade 13 TV-L Berlin)
With 66 % of the regular weekly working hours

Working field:

  • Assistance in ongoing research projects in environmental economics (group of Professor Börger), particularly on the valuation of ecosystem services and assessment of preferences for climate adaptation measures and sustainable resource use
  • Preparation, implementation and follow-up of surveys for data collection
  • Statistical/econometric analysis of survey data
  • Preparation of the relevant specialist literature on the assessement of preferences for adaptation to climate change and sustainable resource use
  • Preparation of research results for conference papers, project reports and scientific publications
  • Teaching load of 2.64 semester hours per week in the field of economics
  • Preparing a doctorate/PhD in collaboration with the University of the Basque Country (Spain)

Requirements:

  • A master's degree at a university or university of applied sciences in economics or business administration, business informatics, agricultural economics or statistics (or a very good Bachelor degree in any of those fields);
  • Interest to pursue a doctorate/PhD in the field of economics and environmental economics;
  • Knowledge in the fields of environmental valuation, empirical economics, econometrics or other survey research are desirabile;
  • Knowledge in the quantitative analysis of survey data in R, Stata or similar applications are desirable;
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously in interdisciplinary projects at the interface of economics and environmental management;
  • Very good communication and organisational skills (in English; German language skills are desirable)

  • Customised education: Your own further qualification (doctorate/PhD) should be integrated into the research project. HWR Berlin does not yet have its own right to award doctorates; there is a co-operative supervision agreement in place with the University of the Basque Country (Spain)
