At the Biotechnology Center (BIOTEC), an Institute of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB), the Chair of Biophysics (Honigmann lab) offers a project position as

Research Associate / Postdoc (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting September 1, 2024. This position is initially limited to December 14, 2025 with the option of extension. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification.
The Honigmann lab combines cutting edge microscopy with cell biology and biochemistry to understand the structure and function of cellular interfaces. A particular focus of our research regards how cell adhesion complexes self-assemble and control tissue mechanics.
The Dresden campus with its interdisciplinary structure offers an outstanding research environment at the interface between Physics and Biology.

Working field:

We seek independent, passionate, and motivated applicants
(1) develop and improve super-resolution DNA-PAINT imaging in 3D tissue culture with a focus on lipids, and (2) study the structure and function of cell-cell adhesion complexes combining super-resolution imaging and genetics. The successful applicant will be in charge of instrumentation development and measurements in the laboratory, and work in a collaborative manner with a highly interdisciplinary group of researchers. You are expected to be involved in collaborations within the “Physics of Life Cluster” and the Max Planck Institute for Cell Biology and Genetics.

Requirements:

university and PhD degree in Physics, Bioengineering or Biology, and previous experience in instrumentation and/or advanced physical measurements, as well as a keen interest in biological systems, previous experience in biophysics and microscopy are considered positively.
