Working field:

Participation in research within SFB 1349 “Fluoro-specific interactions. Basics and Applications”.

  • Further development and application of advanced quantum-chemical methods to questions of the SFB, in cooperation with experimental groups
  • Systematic state-of-the-art bonding analyses of fluoro-specific interactions, quantum-chemical contributions to the spectroscopic and structural characterization of new intermediates and products, in particular of NMR parameters using advanced, also relativistic quantum-chemical methods, application of advanced solvent models


  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in chemistry or a related field, and a PhD in quantum chemistry
  • Very good knowledge and experience in quantum chemistry
  • Prior knowledge in density functional theory, in advanced bonding analyses and/or in the quantum-chemical modeling of chemical processes, e.g. in solution, experience with state-of-the-art computations of spectroscopic parameters, also including relativistic effects
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills


  • The ability to work independently in an interdisciplinary team, excellent communication skills, and a high motivation to bring own ideas to the project are expected
