The research project MRO 2.0 deals with maintenance, repair, and operation of industrial machines - especially gas turbines. New, Al-based expert systems are to be developed and investigated within the project. They are supposed to support engineers within the MRO process in their daily work. For this, scalable information networks in highly complex industrial value creation networks are to be developed. Cognitive assistant systems will be integrated into an existing IT landscape and scientifically evaluated. We expect the successful candidate to arrange the research activity between the participating, Berlin-based research groups within the project and within our research group. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to publish and present the achieved research results.

• Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in Computer Science, with focus in at least one of the following areas: Distributed Systems, Edge & Cloud Computing, machine leaming or related fields
• Specialization in Cloud Computing, Edge Computing, or Machine Learning: Solid skills in Linux/Unix, Python
• experience with the development of RESTful services as well as microservice architectures
• Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills

Desirable:

• knowledge/publications in the field of reinforcement learning, cognitive assistant systems, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, virtualization technologies, Docker and Kubernetes
• QoS and non-functional requirements
• SAP Hana
• ideally experience in use cases in the field of industrial MRO processes
• solid skills in presenting as well as writing project reports
