Working field:

We are offering you the opportunity to work on the research project "Erfolgsbedingungen und Anforderungen an Konzepte zur Etablierung von Bürgerenergieinitiativen in Ländern Mittel- und Osteuropas – Chancen und Grenzen zur Unterstützung der Energiewende" – subject to funding approval from the German Federal Environment Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt).

It is a follow-up project to the first project on community energy in Central and Eastern European countries (https://www.dbu.de/foerderung/projektfoerderung/internationale-projekte/buergerenergie/), carried out from 2021-2023 as part of a corresponding DBU funding priority. The project aims to analyse and compare the framework conditions for community energy in Central and Eastern European countries and to incorporate the results of local projects in the target countries.

Your tasks in the third-party funded project include:

  • Literature research, management, evaluation and processing
  • Conceptualizing, conducting and evaluating interviews
  • Communication with the funding organisation
  • Writing project reports and scientific publications (in English)
  • Preparation and implementation of workshops (content, organisation and follow-up)
  • Organisational tasks (travel/event planning etc.)
  • Presenting (interim) project results to the funding organisation and at conferences
  • Supervision of a student assistant

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed academic university degree (Master’s, Diploma or equivalent) with excellent results.
  • High interest and at least fundamental knowledge in citizen energy, energy transition, public involvement/participation, and socio-ecological issues of the energy transition.
  • Proficient German and English skills required; willingness to acquire the missing language skills.
  • Initiative, flexibility and quick comprehension.
  • Good teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to conduct business trips to Central and Eastern European countries.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience in preparing, conducting and analysing interviews
  • Experience with the organisation of workshops/seminars
  • Overview of the topic of energy transition and expansion of renewable energies in Central and Eastern European countries
  • First publication experiences and good academic writing skills.
